Ingredients
Our ingredients are local and fresh wherever possible.
During summer we use fresh berries from PioPio, just down the way, which we freeze for winter. Coffee is made from freshly ground beans every morning.
These beans have been batch roasted in Otorohanga and sourced from the roasters’ family in Malawi or friends in Jamaica.
Then there is our range of NZ honeys, these are individually sourced by Abseil Inn so you can experence the very individual flavours.
The eggs are free range.
The bacon is dry cured the traditional way.
Gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan options are available.
Vegan options are limited but will be expanded if you can give us 48 hours notice – And no cell phones at the table.

“The best of the best was the breakfast ! Scrumptious homemade delicacies with a lot of attention to detail ! What an experience! To mention a few: the green tea had real leaves in the pot ,not tea bags ! And the host will spoil you with a rich array of local honeys if you ordered toast!”
CHIAHSI
“I had the French Toast and they were simply the best I have ever had. My wife had poached eggs to perfection. Staying at the Abseil was one of our best decisions on our adventure to New Zealand.
What we didn’t like is that the Abseil inn has set the bar so high for all our other stays lol :)”
Jean, Canada
“Well as a chef myself, the breakfast and the time taken to explain the condiments was exceptional, not only was it all cooked to perfection, we felt like King and Queen in the hosts Castle. Awesome place”
Paul, Australia
“The breakfast was fantastic and was lovely to have a shared dining room where you could chat with other guests. Really felt like part of the family.”
